EAST AND WEST CALLIGRAPHY

East Meets West has been the deep-rooted culture at Hong Kong, but if you were asked to use a symbolic object to tell the story, what would you pick?

The University of Hong Kong is celebrating it’s 100th Anniversary, the theme for the year was “East Meets West: Synergy, Competition or Collaboration”.  University Presidents around the globe were invited for this important summit on the discussion for the context of higher education.

| LONG TERM PARTNERSHIP |

The collaboration with the University of Hong Kong has been nourished through a couple of previous projects, it has been our gratitude to be invited for taking charge of this spot-of-the-lime-light summit. From our proposal, traditional calligraphy has been picked, which is the perfect match with the theme of the HKU President Summit as a whole.

Chinese Brush denotes “EAST” and Quill implies “WEST”. Both of the tools are used for calligraphy, however, they look apparently different, they are made with diversified materials, and especially the way of writing. It links cohesively with education, how internationalization and competition creates challenges, on the other hand, how collaboration helps on expelling the hurdles.

The two impartial calligraphy pens look simple, yet when it comes to presentation, they become contrastable but scholastically elegant.

| COHESIVE PRODUCTION | INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION |

The concept of the calligraphy has spanned through other branding materials, namely, backdrops, poster, invitation card and folders and website content. Get all the important guests over the globe to have a meaningful interactivity; a world map has been created for the backdrop of the ribbon-cutting ceremony and photo-opportunity, where the seventy University Presidents from the globe interactively placed their University badges on the backdrop as the activation for the ceremony.
